Austin's newest homegrown tradition is back for round two. On Saturday, August 22, 2026, Stay Weird Austin takes over Sagebrush on South Congress for a one-day festival built around a simple idea: celebrate the people, bands, and small businesses that make this city feel like itself — and raise money for historic preservation while doing it.

Now in its second year, the festival is organized by Think Flamingo (Clete Donovan), with proceeds benefiting Preservation Austin, the nonprofit that has spent decades fighting to keep the city's historic buildings and neighborhoods intact. Given how fast the skyline has rearranged itself over the past decade, that mission lands differently than it used to.

Who's Backing It

The event runs on sponsor support, and the roster reads like a South Austin roll call. On the beverage side: Lone Star, Casamigos, WildGins, Willie's Remedy, and Rambler. On the goods side: Armadillo World Head Quarters, ProGraphix, and Zilker Belts. And feeding the crowd: Torchy's, Thundercloud Subs, Show Me Pizza, and Happy Chicks.

Why South Congress Is the Right Address for This

Sagebrush sits at 5500 South Congress, well south of the tourist-heavy SoCo stretch and squarely in the 78745 corridor — the part of South Austin that has absorbed as much change as any neighborhood in the city over the last fifteen years. Old bungalows, new builds, and long-running dive bars share the same blocks. Hosting a preservation benefit here isn't accidental. It's the argument, made in the exact place where the argument matters.

Free parking on site is worth flagging, too. For an all-day event on Congress, that's not nothing.
