Ranked, the 7 Most HIPPIE things in Austin, Texas.

Per my local resident opinions and ATX Unicorn Status, I've decided to create this ranked LIST of the 7 most HIPPIE places, events, things, entities, shops and stores, in Austin, Texas.

#7. Any Donation Based YOGA exercise venue.

Does Austin Texas have more RUN CLUBS or YOGA places currently? I'd be curious for someone to research and actually find out. Yes, the city of Austin, Texas known for it's fit, exercise, outdoor and health conscious culture has plenty of YOGA places. Per YELP, Click here for the Top 10 Donation Based YOGA practice Venues in Austin, Texas. Stretch it out and Breathe people!

#6. Casa Del Luz Village

This is a 100% authentic true HIPPIE gathering cultural place in Austin, Texas. No Posers allowed here. Located near Zilker Park & the Hike and Bike Trail @ 1701 Toomey Road, per their google website, "Vegan, organic & gluten-free meals, plus classes, workshops, fitness & conferences.".

#5. the Liberal Arts College within the University of Texas at Austin.

This ain't the crew cut, rural and often forgotten Texas Aggies, nope not at all. The University of Texas at Austin, (Texas Longhorns) has multiple different educational branded colleges. For example, business, communication, education, nursing, social work, liberal arts, fine arts, etc. I was a Liberal Arts History Major with Minors in Business and Spanish graduate way back in 2004. Liberal Arts students are allowed to partake in a wide variety of themed courses. For example, a sprinkling of science, math, philosophy, business, sociology, psychology, writing etc. Liberal Arts students and graduates are open minded free thinkers.

#4. Wheatsville Co-Op Grocery Stores

Imagine if Whole Foods never sold out to the corporate Jeff Bezos dominated Amazon. Imagine if Whole Foods had kept to it's core hippie 420 smelling, bring your own grocery store bag, naturally grown food vibes. Bingo! Then you'd have the Wheatsville Grocery Co-Op. I've heard it will be closing in the near future, but the 32nd street and Guadalupe Location was and is the most prominent Central Austin location. They'd often ask the customers at check-out, "Are you already a member or do you want to join the Co-Op?" I personally never understood the gist of it and simply enjoyed shopping there.

#3. Bouldin Street Cafe.

The Most Hippie Version of Bouldin Street Cafe, a vegetarian and vegan cafe, was located in a shack type old pier and beam commercial home on South 1st street previously. Post Hippie Success, the newer Bouldin Street Cafe building is an Austin Hippie Institution. It's Hippie Vibes are often confused with Californication aura by ATX transplants. Regardless the BSC is still wonderful! The Friendly and welcoming casually styled staff sell superb coffee and a vegetarian based food menu. Double TIP the waitstaff if you desire, but they have implemented a "fair wage tax" on all checks that essentially grants a built-in 20.00% tip for the working staff.

#2. Eeyore's Birthday Party.

An annual tradition that occurs during the month of APRIL in the recently improved PEASE PARK of Central West Austin. This annual family friendly 1 day only park festival features bright colors, face painting, LBGTQ friendly patrons, sack races, Maypoles, Drums Circles, Craft Beers, Female Pastie Wearers, Live Music and much more. It's an all ages free Saturday of relaxed Fun.

#1. Barton Springs Pool

Although this is a family and humanity welcoming natural springs pool, it is a very popular lounge and hangout spot in Austin Texas for people with HIPPIE tendencies. The au-natural pool with NO chlorine added, plus it's constant year round temperature hovering around 68-70 degrees Fahrenheit induce a refreshing low-key atmosphere. Also an excellent venue to detox from phone and the digital word and just a Read a Book, Tan on a Towel, or Sit underneath a lady shady tree. With a no dog, no food, no alcohol policy and very liberal dress code, Barton Springs Pool is #1 on the the Most Hippie Things in Austin Texas.

Austin, Texas has a DOG PROBLEM.....

Austin, Texas has a DOG problem (Letter I wrote and sent) Dear Austin City Council Members, Hello and well regards, Yesterday afternoon during a simple bicycle pedal exercise ride, I was physically chased by an unleashed Pitbull dog in ZILKER PARK. Then directly after recovering from almost being mauled by an unleashed pit-bull in Zilker Park, I attempted to buy a Gatorade at a nearby Barton Springs Road Market, but that didn't go well either, as an interior Market commercial customer had a massive mixed breed dog trolling through the diminutive shopping isles. Then this morning, at a Coffee shop on SoCo, there was only 1 entry way in and out, and there was another large, although more docile mixed breed dog. All of this has occurred in less than 24 hours. What's the point? The City of Austin's dog friendliness and citizen enabling of irresponsible dog owners has gotten out of control. Newsflash! Not everybody like dogs, being everywhere all the time. especially within ...
