AUSTIN (KXAN) — What do Williamsburg in New York City, Venice in California and Austin’s very own South Congress have in common?

They were listed in an Architectural Digest report as the trendiest neighborhoods in the United States.

The report titled “The Cost of Living in America’s Trendiest Neighborhoods (2023 Study)” detailed the price people pay living in those places.


What are the trendiest neighborhoods?

The trendiest neighborhoods were ranked from highest to lowest salary needed to afford rent:

  1. Williamsburg in Brooklyn, New York
  2. South End in Boston, Massachusetts
  3. Greenwich Village in New York City
  4. Mission District in San Francisco, California
  5. Venice in Los Angeles, California
  6. Logan Circle in Washington, DC
  7. Wynwood in Miami, Florida
  8. Silver Lake in Los Angeles, California
  9. West Loop in Chicago, Illinois
  10. Capitol Hill in Seattle, Washington
  11. River North Arts District in Denver, Colorado
  12. Old Fourth Ward in Atlanta, Georgia
  13. South Congress in Austin, Texas
  14. Fishtown in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

 SHOULD YOU BUY a "FLIPPED" HOUSE?  Have you personally ever considered and wondered if you, yourself should BUY  a "flipped house." In my 15+ years of predominantly residential Central Austin brokerage practice and experience, here are my insights, opinions, suggestions and things to be cognizant of.  #1. Absolutely, for sure get a LICENSED INSPECTION on the flipped house! Not all flippers are the same. Just like in life there is a wide spectrum in regards to quality. Some flippers are flat out awful.
